On the penultimate day of the BP Final Rally-Raid Portugal, António Maio emerged because the quickest rider of a stage. The occasion is a part of the World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC), marking the third spherical of the season that started in January with the Dakar 2024.
Within the fourth stage, riders tackled a timed route of 253km from Badajoz to Grândola, with Maio (Yamaha) setting the tempo: he clocked a time of 2h39m44s, ending 29 seconds forward of Adrien van Beveren (Monster Power Honda). Bruno Santos (Husqvarna) secured third place, 35 seconds behind the winner.
The highest 5 was rounded out by Skyler Howes and Tosha Schareina, each from Monster Power Honda. Bradley Cox (BAS World KTM Racing Crew) completed sixth forward of the Hero MotoSports duo, Sebastian Bühler and Ross Department.
With simply at some point remaining, Schareina prolonged her lead within the general standings, now holding a 4m33s benefit over Bühler. Santos stays in third place, and regardless of successful the stage, Maio maintains fourth place. Howes completes the highest 5.
